Prison Rape Elimination Act

The Department of Juvenile Justice is committed to establishing a zero tolerance environment against the sexual assault, sexual abuse, and sexual harassment of youth in confinement pursuant to the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). The Department has worked diligently to develop and integrate a safe system of care for youth. All Department of Juvenile Justice staff and youth are trained continuously on the importance of maintaining safe environments that are free from any type of sexual misconduct.

The Department of Juvenile Justice does not permit the physical abuse, sexual abuse or sexual harassment of youth in custody; all youth have the right to feel and be safe.
