About Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center
Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center is located on 668 acres on the shores of Lake Cumberland. The facility is medium security and houses a maximum of 40 residents.
The facility was originally a boy's camp before it became a youth development center. It has retained many of its original perks, including a boat dock and the opportunities for fishing. Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center also has a library and vocational shop, with instruction available for welding and carpentry. There are also a variety of community outreach programs for youth to participate in.

Visitation is on Sundays from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Virtual visitations are available.

William Huffaker, Superintendent
William Huffaker began working at Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center in 2012, and was promoted to juvenile facility manager in 2018, a role he continues to hold.
He attended Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in homeland security police studies and asset protection. Huffaker has also completed a master's level certificate in homeland security and emergency management
Huffaker says his motivation is facing new challenges every day and wants to make positive changes and better people's lives.
