Victim Notifications

The Kentucky Constitution secures for certain victims of criminal acts a meaningful role in the criminal and juvenile justice systems.  This includes the ability for some people to receive notice of the release or escape of an accused.  The Department of Juvenile Justice has designed a process to assist victims in receiving notification regarding the release or escape of an accused that is involved in the juvenile justice system.

The process for receiving notification about the release or escape of an accused starts with a request from the victim.  If you are a victim of a youth crime and would like to receive notification from the Department of Juvenile Justice, please email DJJVictimNotification@ky.gov to request notification.

If you are requesting notification about the release or escape of a youth, please note that you will need to provide certain information to the Department of Juvenile Justice.  The information that you will need to provide to the Department of Juvenile Justice includes your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.  You will also need to provide the name of the county where the court case is being prosecuted and the name of the person accused of committing the crime.  You may be asked to sign an affidavit to verify that you are a victim.  Please understand that delay in providing necessary information may result in delayed notification.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Department of Juvenile Justice at 502-573-2738.
