Day Treatment Centers

About

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice operates five (5) Day Treatment (DT) Centers.  Day Treatments are non-residential programs that provide education and intensive services to youth who live at home, in a foster home, or a group home and report to the program as required.

Youth in the Day Treatment are provided with a standard school schedule with individualized instruction.  These programs provide specialized services designed to meet the individual needs of each youth.  The Day Treatments utilize an effective balance of treatment, education and graduated sanctions to redirect troubled youth.

Day Treatments provide community-based services for eligible youth:
  • To prevent further involvement with the juvenile justice system
  • To prevent placement out of the community
  • To return the youth back to the community after residential placement.

DJJ operated Day Treatment facilities include:
  • Ashland DT (in Ashland)
  • Breathitt DT (in Louisville)
  • Christian County DT (in Hopkinsville)
  • Hardin County DT (in Elizabethtown)
  • Owensboro DT (in Owensboro)
