Burnside Group Home provides an educational experience for all juveniles in its care focused on learning healthy stress management skills and how to deal with problems in an emotionally mature way.
About Burnside Group Home
Burnside Group Home was founded in 1987 and has been a safe place for juveniles to learn and grow ever since. It has a variety of programs that teach important life skills and techniques to help juveniles better learn to regulate their emotions. The facility is in Pulaski County and has strong ties within its community, allowing for varied and unique experiences.
Burnside Group Home can accommodate a maximum of eight juveniles, and houses males aged 13-18 years old. Juveniles at this facility are given opportunities to learn and develop new hobbies and give back to their community in different ways. Under the leadership of current Juvenile Facility Manager Branden Wallen, Burnside Group Home hosts a yearly basketball tournament for all the group homes across the state, where teams can compete for prizes purchased via income residence of Burnside have earned helping in the community.

Visitation Info
Burnside Group Home visitation is offered every Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST. Zoom meetings may be scheduled at any time during the week with the JSW, family, and your counselor.Visitation is provided for approved immediate family members/guardians and subject to approval by treatment team and JSW. The parent or caregiver will receive information about our location and visitation regulations within three days of the youth's admission. All visitors are subject to search and may be asked to leave at any time. The parent or caregiver may make special arrangements for an alternate visiting day, special visitations, or extended time under extenuating circumstances and must be approved by treatment team and coordinated by the counselor. Visitation areas will be assigned prior to visitation. No matter the Level, youth will be allowed their first visit the first visitation date after their arrival.
Branden Wallen, Facility Manager
Branden Wallen began his career with the Department of Juvenile Justice in 2000. He started out as a youth worker and has worked his way up to being promoted juvenile facility manager. He attended Eastern Kentucky University prior to his time with the department.
Wallen enjoys working with juveniles and encouraging them to find creative outlets for the complex feelings they have. He plans events with other juvenile facilities and hosts a basketball tournament every year for all of the group homes across the state.
