​Mission Statement

Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center is committed to helping youth further their educational goals and learn to make smart choices that will help them achieve their full potential later in life.  


 
About Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center

Fayette Regional Detention Center is a high security level facility with 56 beds located in central Kentucky. The facility was built in 2005 and features a variety of programs and learning opportunities to the youth in its custody.

The facility has strong community ties, and offers many skills building classes to juveniles, including life skill training, problem solving skill training, and behavior training programs. GED and traditional high school diploma programs are available to youth at this facility, so they can best prepare themselves to help their communities.​ ​​

Visitation Info

  • ​Residents in unit 100 will have visitation on Saturdays from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. Please arrive by 12:45pm.
  • Residents in unit 200 will have visitation on Sundays from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. Please arrive by 12:45pm.
  • Residents in unit 300 will have visitation on Sundays from 3:00pm - 4:00pm. Please arrive by 2:45pm.
  • Residents in unit 400 will have visitation on Saturdays from 3:00pm - 4:00pm. Please arrive by 2:45pm.

For families who do not have access to an electronic device, a virtual visitation station is available Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm EDT at 8711 LaGrange Rd., Building E, Louisville, Ky. 40242. To schedule an appointment, please call 502-423-2206. ​​


Donty Lear, Interim​ Facility M​anager

Donty Lear is originally from Detroit, Michigan. He moved to Kentucky in 2008 and began attending Kentucky State University, where he earned a bachelor's in criminal justice. After college he pursued a career in the mental health field. 

Lear began working for the Department of Juvenile Justice in 2021, serving as Superintendent II at Jefferson Regional Juvenile Detention Center. In 2022 went to work for Louisville Metro Government Youth Transitional Services, where he supervised the transportation department and helped establish the Youth Screening Center. He returned to the Department of Juvenile Justice in 2023, where he now serves as Juvenile Facility Manager of Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center.​ 

Lear says helping juveniles is a passion of his, as he believes he could have easily been in there shoes. He says he hopes to encourage the juveniles and provide a positive role model for them.
