Group Homes

About

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice operates eight (8) Group Homes that serve a variety of youth needs.  Youth are placed in the least restrictive available program to meet the youth's individual treatment needs. Group homes can also function as step-down programs for youth leaving a Youth Development Center that could benefit from a less restrictive level of care before they return home.  Two of our group homes also function as an alternative to a restrictive detention placement for non-adjudicated youth (ATD).

Group home youth utilize either a day treatment or local public schools for the educational component.  Individual and group counseling, substance abuse treatment and community service are all elements of group home programs.

Group home provides youth with a less structured setting than in youth development centers.
