McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center provides a safe and secure place for youth to learn and grow into well rounded and productive community members with an atmosphere that promotes acceptance.

 
About McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention C​​enter
McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center houses low-level male juveniles and was founded and constructed in 1999. The facility can house a maximum of 43 males who have been charged with a class d felony or lesser offense. The facility underwent a renovation in 2001 to add an education wing and reception area. ​Staff work to be understanding of the difficulties juveniles face and help instruct them on ways to move past their barriers.

Visitation Info
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm - 5:00pm. Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30pm - ​2:30pm, to include holidays. Parents, guardians and grandparents need to call the morning of visitation to be scheduled. Please arrive 15 minutes early.​ For families who do not have access to an electronic device, a virtual visitation station is available Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm EDT at 8711 LaGrange Rd., Building E, Louisville, Ky. 40242. To schedule an appointment, please call 502-423-2206. ​​


​Byron Jasis​, Facility Manager

Byron Jasis has served as superintendent at McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center since March 2026. In this role, Superintendent Jasis oversees the facility's daily operations, ensuring juveniles receive proper care and staff uphold the department's mission and required policies.

Jasis has spent much of his career in corrections, beginning as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in 1982. He rose through the ranks as a sergeant and lieutenant before moving into administrative duties in 2000, where he helped develop and implement policy and served as the facility's American Correctional Association accreditation manager.  He later became unit administrator for the Kentucky State Penitentiary, managing protective custody and restricted housing. In 2011, Jasis became assistant director of Keeton Corrections in Paducah, serving in that role until becoming the office's director in 2018. Jasis joined the Department of Juvenile Justice in 2025 as deputy facility manager at McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

Jasis holds an associate's degree in law enforcement from the University of Kentucky – Hopkinsville.​
